Actors Adam Devine and Liam Hemsworth have been cast alongside Rebel Wilson in New Line’s ISN’T IT ROMANTIC, the Tracking Board has confirmed. Todd Strauss-Schulson is directing the romantic comedy based on an original script by Erin Cardillo, with revisions done by Dana Fox, Katie Silberman, and Paula Pell. The most recent rewrite was done by Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly.
The film follows a young woman (Wilson) who is skeptical of love when she suddenly finds her life has become a romantic comedy. Devine and Hemsworth will fill out the love triangle of the film, with Hemsworth playing the object of Wilson’s affections and Devine as her friend-and-possibly-more.
Todd Garner, Grant Scharbo, Gina Matthews, and Jeremy Stein are producing the flick. This news was originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
With The Big Sick coming out this summer (and receiving positive buzz at festivals) and TV shows like The Mindy Project and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the romantic comedy is making a comeback in new and innovative ways. With any luck, we’ll be seeing plenty more of them in the future.
The film reteams Devine and Wilson who appeared together in both Pitch Perfect movies. Most recently he lent his voice to The LEGO Batman Movie and next will appear in the Disney film Magic Camp. His screenplay, another romantic comedy titled When We First Met, is set to come out sometime this year. He’s repped by WME and Avalon Management.
Hemsworth is best known for his roles in The Hunger Games movies and was most recently in last year’s Independence Day Resurgence and The Dressmaker opposite Kate Winslet. He’s repped by WME, Morrissey Management in Australia, and ROAR.
