Ridin’ Dirty centers on Vicky Fursky, a horse jockey and baddest chick out there, who is determined to become the first woman in history to win the Triple Crown. Rachel is set to play Fursky. Jackal’s Gail Berman and Joe Earley executive produce with Melanie Truhett.
The series grows a television landscape that has changed vastly in the last few years as more and more cable networks are putting female-led comedies front and center. Comedy Central, a channel that previously had a more male-centric brand, has flipped focus as Inside Amy Schumer and Broad City have won viewer and critical acclaim. More recently, there’s been the additions of viral hitmaker Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on TBS, USA’s fantastic Playing House, and HBO’s upcoming Insecure on HBO.
FX has been looking for a female-led comedy, having ordered a pilot of Obvious Child‘s Gillian Robespierre and Elisabeth Holm with Jenny Slate and Ari Graynor to star, another half-hour written by and starring Cristin Milioti and Nina Pedrad, and a third from You’re The Worst‘s Stephen Falk and Alison Bennett. They previously developed the animated series Cassius And Clay from Megan Ganz before eventually passing on the project. They currently have Better Things starring Pamela Adlon and created by Adlon and Louis C.K. set to debut next month.
Rachel is a regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade and recognizable for the many national commercials she has appeared in. She has appeared on several comedies over the years including Weeds, Workaholics, Comedy Bang! Bang!, New Girl, Selfie, and Togetherness. She created Couple Time, which portrays the weird things couples do when no one else is around, with her boyfriend Patrick Carlyle. Ellen Degeneres was an executive producer on the Fox version.
