Amblin Signs Exclusive Output Deal With Showtime
0Steven Spielberg’s production giant Amblin Partners has signed an exclusive pact with Showtime that will give the premium network company the rights to air feature films from the company now through 2021. This includes the catalogue of films from Amblin, DreamWorks, and Participant Media.
The deal is an extension of a previous agreement with DreamWorks and set to include all films released between now and December 2021 after their theatrical run. The titles will air on Showtime as well as The Movie Channel, Flix, and other Showtime multiplex channels and streaming services.
“We are delighted to finalize our output deal with Amblin Partners, as we continue to offer DreamWorks Pictures and now Amblin and Participant theatrical films to our subscribers,” said Kent Sevener, senior VP, content acquisition for Showtime Networks in a statement. “Coupled with our award-winning series, specials, documentaries and sports offerings, as well as our current supply of theatrical titles, these critically-acclaimed films add incredible value to our programming slate.”
Amblin Partner co-CEO Jeff Small adds, “Showtime has been a terrific partner for many years, and we are thrilled that they will continue to be a home for our pictures for years to come.”
Upcoming films included in the agreement include The Light Between Oceans starring Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander and the upcoming adaptation of The Girl on the Train.
