True to form, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter today and dropped a puzzling message written in domino dots that, when deciphered, announced that Atlanta star Zazie Beetz would be taking on the coveted role of Domino in DEADPOOL 2.

Reynolds confirmed a rumor posted an hour earlier on Twitter by the Tracking Board’s own editor in chief Jeff Sneider, who decided against publishing a speculative casting story on the word of a single source, given how many rumors about Domino’s casting turned out to be wrong.
RUMOR: I’ve heard that ATLANTA star ZAZIE BEETZ tested for the role of Domino in DEADPOOL 2 and the studio likes her. Show is on hiatus too.

Rumors have been circulating for weeks about who would nab the role of the former mercenary. Fox executives and director David Leitch had been seeking an actress of color, with Janelle Monae, Ruth Negga, Kerry Washington and Gugu Mbatha-Raw among the possibilities. However, when all was said and done, Beetz nabbed the role.
In the comics, Domino (aka Neena Thurman) has a distinct black and white look and has the ability to manipulate luck through the government experiment “Project: Armageddon.” She first appeared in the 1992 comic book X-Force. Through her run, the character has been an ally, friend, lover, and sometimes enemy of Deadpool. In other words, she is his frenemy with benefits.
Leitch (John Wick) is set to direct from a script by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Drew Goddard. Leitch is taking over directing duties from Tim Miller, who guided the first Deadpool to record-breaking box office for an R-rated film.
The casting for Deadpool 2 has been a hot topic of late. In addition to the now-resolved rumors of the Domino casting, the role of time-traveling telekinetic soldier Cable has been the source of rumors as well. Kyle Chandler, David Harbour and Nathan Fillion’s names have been circulating through the rumor mill, but nothing has been locked in yet. We’ll just have to wait until Reynolds takes to Twitter and comes up with a fun pun to reveal who will be playing Cable.
Beetz has numerous film credits including the drama Wolves starring Michael Shannon and Carla Gugino. In addition to her role in the Golden Globe-winning FX series Atlanta she can be seen in the upcoming A24 comedy Slice starring Chance the Rapper.
She is represented by Gersh, which did not respond to the Tracking Board’s inquiries in the 24 hours leading up to the announcement of Beetz’s casting.
