Bad Robot to Produce Dramedy Series on the Life of RuPaul

’ production company Bad Robot and reality production company are joining forces to produce a half-hour dramedy series fictionalizing RuPaul‘s rise from drag queen to stardom. Set in 1980’s New York City, the series is written by Power executive producer .

The series is expected to be up for sale soon and , where Bad Robot is located, has latched on as the project’s studio.

Abrams and Bad Robot’s are slated to executive produce with RuPaul, and , , and of .

RuPaul, who won an Emmy in 2016 for best host of a reality competition program, was raised in San Diego and then moved to Atlanta to study performing arts, to which he succeeded by moving to New York where he became a well-known figure in the night club scene, the basis for the series.

is best known for producing RuPaul’s Drag Race since its inception in 2009 along with all of its spinoff series.
