The plot details around Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 giant robot action flick, continue to be vague, but its cast is shaping up nicely and the newest name to join is Aftermath star Levi Meaden.

The eight-book fantasy series by Richard Kadrey (with the ninth on the way next year), Sandman Slim, has been acquired by Studio 8. The production company has secured the rights to the New York Times-bestselling series and is considering the possibility for a new franchise.

The upcoming comedy Naked from producer and actor Marlon Wayans has landed at Netflix for a global streaming premiere in 2017, with production set to start next month in South Carolina. The film is a remake of the 2000 Swedish comedy Naken from Mårten and Torkel Knutsson.

The spec Inner City from Nightcrawler writer-director Dan Gilroy is nearing a deal with Sony Pictures and Cross Creek Pictures. The new project, which Gilroy will write and direct, already has Denzel Washington attached to star.
