Chadwick Boseman has swapped out his Wakandan superhero outfit for a finely tailored suit in the first official trailer for MARSHALL, an upcoming biopic detailing the lift of Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Justice.
The film primarily focuses on Marshall’s time as a young attorney for the NAACP — long before the Supreme Court and the landmark case Brown v Board of Education — and the crucial case he takes on defending a black man (Sterling K. Brown) accused of sexually assaulting a white woman (Kate Hudson). Marshall is joined by Sam Friedman (Josh Gad), a young attorney with no criminal law experience. Beauty and the Beast star Dan Stevens also appears as the prosecutor in the case.
Based on the trailer, the film is empowering and thrilling, and it will deliver yet another top-notch performance from Boseman, who continues to blow audiences and critics away with every role.
The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin and written by Michael and Jacob Koskoff. It’s set for release on October 13.
