Freeform’s entrance into Marvel, has released their latest trailer. The series follows Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), two teenagers from very different upbringings who find themselves awakened to newly-discovered superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy has the ability to emit light daggers, while Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better as a team, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

The footage sets up the entire series premise as expected, but gives a world that feels right at home with the network’s flagship series while still feeling fresh and pushing into where the channel wants to evolve as they say goodbye to fans who grew up watching Pretty Little Liars, and attempt to entice a new generation. That’s not to say this series won’t appeal to twenty and thirty-something millennials as well though! On the contrary, the trailer starts off with throwback vibes to the Julia Stiles film Save the Last Dance as it combines hip-hop and ballet, and with Gina Prince-Bythewood at the helm of the pilot you know this series is a lot more than your typical sudsy, teen romance.

The series is based on the cape comic book duo created by Ed Hannigan and Bill Mantlo, with Joe Pokaski as the creator and show runner. Pokaski also serves as executive producer alongside Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb. Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios are co-producing the series.

Also starring is Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, Jaime Zevallos, and J.D. Evermore. Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will premiere on Freeform Thursday, June 7, with a two-hour series premiere. Check out the latest trailer below.
