Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram today to announce that Hunt for the Wilderpeople star Julian Dennison is joining the cast of DEADPOOL 2. Dennison joins Fox’s superhero sequel in a yet-to-be-announced role alongside newcomers Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz.
True to Deadpool form, the aforementioned Instagram post featured the young New Zealand actor geting a piggyback ride from Reynolds him dressed as the Merc with a Mouth with the caption “Giving Julian Dennison a warm Deadpool welcome as we stare off into our beautiful future together.”
John Wick co-director will helm the movie from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also penned the first film. Brolin will step into the role of time-traveling telekentic cybrog soldier Cable while Atlanta‘s Beetz will play lethal markswoman and assassin Domino. T.J. Miller and Morena Baccarin are set to reprise their roles for the sequel.
The first Deadpool broke records as the highest-grossing R-rated film and hopes to repeat history with the sequel, which is slated for a June 2018 release date. Deadpool received praise for being the first R-rated comic book movie that stayed true to the uber-violent source material and deconstructed the genre. This opened the door for Fox to release the R-rated Logan which received critical praise and high box office numbers.
Dennison is repped by LINK Entertainment.
