Dev Patel To Star in “The Personal History of David Copperfield” From “Veep” Creator Armando Iannucci

Oscar nominee is set to star in FilmNation’s retelling of Charles Dickens’ . Veep creator Armando Iannucci is set to write and direct the film from a script he wrote with Simon Blackwell. Iannucci will produce the feature along with Kevin Loader which was developed with FilmNation.

The film will be a modern take on Dickens’ title character as he navigates a chaotic world to find his place within it. The original David Copperfield novel was first published in 1850 and describes the story of the titular protagonist who was modeled after Dickens.

Patel is coming off his Oscar-nominated role in Lion. His other credits include Slumdog Millionaire, Chappie, and The Last Airbender. Patel’s directorial debut Home Shopper premiered at Sundance and is currently filming The Wedding Guest for Sony Pictures. He is represented by .
