Disney Taps Lasse Hallstrom To Direct “The Nutcracker And The Four Realms”

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is set during Christmas Eve when a young girl named Marie is instructed to take care of a special Nutcracker doll. The Nutcracker comes to life and opens the door to a magical world of toys and an evil Mouse King that changes her life forever.

Hallstrom’s recent directing credits include The Hundred-Foot Journey and the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’s Safe Haven. His next film, A Dog’s Purpose starring Bradley Cooper and Dennis Quaid is slated for a 2017 release date.
