Jason Momoa will have some competition for Amber Heard’s affections in , as Rocky IV star has joined the cast of James Wan’s comic book movie, the Tracking Board has confirmed.

Lundgren will play King Nereus, the ruler of the aquatic kingdom of Xebel, who claims Mera as his own, and has it in for Aquaman.

Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison will play Aquaman’s parents, while Patrick Wilson will co-star as his half-brother. The cast also includes Willem Dafoe and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Warner Bros.’ superhero movie is slated to start production next month in Australia. Oh, and my initial tweet promoting this story suggested that Lundgren would play one of the film’s villains, but just to clear up any confusion, Wan said Nereus is “not quite [a] villain,” so make of that what you will.

Lundgren is a veteran action star who recently popped up alongside Sylvester Stallone (again) in the Expendables franchise. His other feature credits include 1987’s Masters of the Universe, 1989’s The Punisher and 1992’s Universal Soldier. He’s represented by Gersh, manager Craig Baumgarten and Bloom Hergott, and the Hollywood Reporter broke the news of his casting.
