Simon Kinberg is set to make his directorial debut with the big-budget comic book movie, which will put Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey front and center. She’ll be joined by Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult as well as Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee, while Jessica Chastain is set to play the villain.
Also joining the cast is Lamar Johnson, best known for his work on the Canadian TV series The Next Step. Details of his role are being kept under wraps.
It’s unclear how Peters’ mutant speedster will factor into the Dark Phoenix storyline, which didn’t feature Quicksilver originally, but something tells me Kinberg will find a way to incorporate the franchise’s recent scene-stealer.
20th Century Fox will release Dark Phoenix on Nov. 2, 2018, seven months after the studio unveils Josh Boone’s X-Men spinoff New Mutants.
Peters, who is coming off several seasons of FX’s American Horror Story, is represented by CAA, while WME and LINK Entertainment rep Johnson, who will soon be seen alongside Halle Berry in the LA Riots thriller Kings.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.
