0Adam Gilbertson just became this year’s most in-demand writer with his highly sought-after action/sci-fi spec OVERRIDE. The writer, who was unrepped when the spec went out, just last night signed with Industry Entertainment, who was quick to land the writer following the explosive buzz. The spec, which has become 2015’s hottest, is already into a handful of major territories. I’m hearing that Chris Morgan took the spec into Universal, per his first-look deal with the studio. I’m also hearing that the spec, which is now being read by everyone in town, is into Sony, Paramount, Dreamworks, and Lionsgate.
Kept under wraps, but described as a futuristic Fast and Furious, the high-concept action/sci-fi project screams of blockbuster franchise potential, which has naturally whipped studios into a frenzy.
For an unrepped writer to have caused this much of a stir is huge and is typically unprecedented, which is why he’s being courted by major agencies left and right. I’m hearing that today Gilbertson’s been taking meetings all over town, and can confirm that he’s met with WME, UTA, and CAA.
