〉 Acosta becomes the 104th Launch Pad writer signed
Launch Pad alum Sarah Acosta has been signed by Robyn Meisinger and Ryan Cunningham at Madhouse Entertainment! Acosta’s supernatural drama script Eclipsed landed in the Top 5% of the 2015 Pilot Competition, catching the interest of a number of agents and managers, and Meisinger and Cunningham scooped her up as soon as they read it. Co-founded by Meisinger in 2006, Madhouse represents some of the biggest writers in the business, from Aaron Guzikowski of Prisoners fame to Justin Marks who penned Disney’s upcoming The Jungle Book live-action reboot.
Acosta’s pilot Eclipsed asks an important, universal question: What happens when we die? A medical student with a haunted past joins a team of researches determined to answer just that, and discovers the truth might be closer to home than she ever imagined. Incredibly well-written with a strong female protagonist, Eclipsed hooks the reader from the teaser and never lets up while tension and mystery build.
Acosta is no smalltime writer, having been accepted into the NHMC Television Writers Program, an intensive workshop that prepares Latinos for writing jobs at major television networks, co-sponsored by ABC and NBC. An alum of the University of Louisville, Acosta moved to Los Angeles upon earning her BFA. Most recently, she co-created a dramedy pilot acquired by Relativity that has garnered interest from major networks, and she is currently writing and directing two shorts for the horror anthology FUN SIZE HORROR.
