Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, creators of the Israeli political thriller Fauda, have signed with Netflix to make two new English language dramas. One will be about terrorism that will go straight to series with Raz starring, the other is a political espionage thriller called Hit and Run.
Tracking Board has confirmed that the first untitled series is inspired by actual events about the collaboration between the CIA and Israel’s Mossad to find and kill one of the world’s most wanted terrorists. Hit and Run is about a married man, whose life is turned upside down after his wife is killed in a hit and run.
The two Netflix series will be executive produced with Raz and Issacharoff, along with Peter Principato, Itay Reiss and Kimberly Belloni from Principato-Young Entertainment. Hit and Run will also have Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks as executive producers.
It isn’t uncommon for television networks to look to other countries for ideas, as HBO’s In Treatment, based on the Israeli series BeTipul, ran for three seasons from 2008 to 2010.
Fauda’s second season will air on the streaming network in 2018.
