The Missing scribes Harry and Jack Williams have netted a series order for the eight-part drama THE WIDOW from ITV. The project hails from the duo’s production banner Two Brothers, which previously produced hit comedy Fleabag.
The story follows a woman who has cut herself off from her previous life, but is pulled back and forced to seek the truth about what happened to the man she loved while he worked in Africa.
Production will begin in Wales, Africa, and the Netherlands in 2018. All3Media International will distribute the series globally.
“Harry and Jack really are masters of complex emotional and unpredictable storytelling,” said Polly Hill, former BBC drama chief. “The Widow is brilliantly relevant, contemporary story that constantly surprises and I am delighted to have it on ITV. I think it will be a real treat for our audience.”
The Williams brothers are also in the works on, Liar, a six-part series for ITV starring Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd.
