In a new deal, 20th Century Fox has acquired an untitled sci-fi spec from Stranger Things executive producer Karl Gajdusek, the Tracking Board has confirmed. Michael Ellenberg will produce the project via his new Media Res shingle.
The project, which is said to be a character-based drama in the vein of Inception and Edge of Tomorrow, was shopped with the title of Courage but ultimately will not be called that.
Matt Reily, who brought the script to Fox, will be overseeing for the studio. Deadline first broke the news of the acquisition.
This is the latest hot spec acquired by Fox to develop as a potential blockbuster. Recently, the studio landed the female-led R-rated comedy from Melissa Stack as well as Drew Goddard’s spec Bad Times at the El Royale.
Gajdusek’s film credits include penning the scripts for Trespass, Oblivion, and The November Man. Most recently he’s executive producer and served as the showrunner for the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. He’s currently writing Puzzler for Paramount starring Anne Hathway. He’s repped by Verve and Management 360.
