Fox has chosen its 10 participants for the 2016 Fox Writers Intensive program, a talent development program that aims to boost the careers of writers from diverse backgrounds. The writers will take part in a four-month curriculum, curated by Film Independent, consisting of workshops, seminars and one-on-one mentoring to help them work on scripts and hone skills to allow them to move into staff writing jobs. Now in its fourth year, The Fox Writers Intensive has partnered with the non-profit Young Storytellers Foundation to provide mentoring support for YSF’s program targeting elementary students in Los Angeles-area public schools.

“The growth of the Fox Writers Intensive over the past four years was a distinct goal, but even more gratifying is how the Fox businesses and shows have recognized and engaged in FWI as the creative resource it was designed to be. Our commitment to authentically engaging broader and diverse talent is stronger than ever,” said Nicole Bernard, Executive VP of Audience Strategy at 21st Century Fox. “Partnering with such a respected organization as Young Storytellers not only gives our finalists a deeper connection with the community, but also helps Fox build a future pipeline of dynamic storytellers.”

At the end of the program, one participant will be named the FWI Fellow and receive a development deal with a Fox-affiliated entity and the chance for creative meetings with various executives.

Congratulations to the writers chosen to participate, including Ahmadu Garba, who placed in both the 2015 Launch Pad Pilots and Feature Competitions before being signed by Epicenter.
