Golden Globes 2017: Complete List of Nominations

golden-globes-bannerLionsgate, Amazon Studios, A24, Netflix, NBC, FX

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced  nominations for the 74th annual Golden Globes and as usual, they were plenty of expected honorees, surprises, and, of course, snubs. Leading the pack on the film side of things was La La Land, which raked in seven nominations including  Best Musical or Comedy, Best Actor & Actress for Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as well as a nod for Damien Chazelle for Best Director. Moonlight came in at a close second with six nominations. Barry Jenkins will go toe-to-toe with Chazelle for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay and the pic will have to fend off Manchester by the Sea for the Best Drama trophy.

Some pleasant surprises include R-rated comic book pic Deadpool in the running for Best Musical or Comedy as well as a nod for Ryan Reynolds for Best Actor in a Comedy. It was also a pleasant surprise to see Colin Farrell getting a deserved nod for his starring role in the dark comedy The Lobster as well as Hailee Steinfeld in The Edge of Seventeen.

Expectedly, HBO cleaned up on the TV side of things, earning a 14 nominations including nods to veteran series like Game of Thrones and VEEP as well as nods to their freshman comedies and dramas. Westworld received a nomination for Best Drama as well as a nod to Evan Rachel Wood for Best Actress and Issa Rae of Insecure nabbed a nod for Best Actress in a Comedy. Their buzzy limited series The Night Of earned stars Riz Ahmed and John Turturro nominations who will go up against Courtney B. Vance for his role in the multiple-nominated The People v. O.J. The drama on FX helped the network rank number two in the most noms, only five behind HBO. Meanwhile, This is Us became the first broadcast drama to get NBC a nomination in 10 years and Netflix surprisingly tallied the lowest amount of nominations to date with two noms for freshman sci-fi drama Stranger Things and snubs for fan favorites House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

The Golden Globes will air on Sunday, January 8 at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET live on NBC and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. The full list of nominees can be read below.
