{HEAT METER} Paradigm’s New Comedy Spec “Furious” Hits The Town, Into First Territories
0Paradigm is dominating the market this month, having just sold a thriller spec today to Universal, with Blumhouse, De Luca and Madhouse producing, and went out with a buzzed-about original comedy yesterday. Today, they hit the market with a new comedy script entitled FURIOUS, written by Heath Cullens & Sean Clifford, based on a story by Ben Murray.
My sources have confirmed that although territories are just being assigned, the spec is already into Lionsgate and Sony. More territories are sure to be announced shortly, as the project is beginning to build enticing buzz around town.
The adventurous comedy follows Gorgeous, the current bull-riding champion who, after becoming defeated by Furious, the most temperamental bull on earth, gives up his title and descends to the lowly life of a rodeo clown. Years later, he becomes called to action by the very girl who warned him of his defeat, to teach her to become the new champion.
Cullens recently made his television directorial debut on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season nine, after creating the show’s New Media and DVD content for the past three seasons. In addition, Cullens produced and directed New Media content for FX’s Wilfred, starring Elijah Wood. Aside from his TV work, Cullens recently produced and had a supporting role in the indie In Security, starring Cary Elwes, Ethan Embry, Michael Gladis and Alan Arkin. He also wrote, directed and starred in the award winning short Well Enough Alone, as well as several sketches for Funny Or Die.
Adrian Garcia, Rich Rogers, and Zac Simmons at Paradigm rep the duo, along with Johnathan Barry at 3 Arts Entertainment.
