Frank Underwood is finally back, though with Donald Trump as our President, it kind of feels like he never left. As HOUSE OF CARDS prepares to return on May 30, Netflix has released the first trailer for the fifth season, which looks full of scandal and intrigue.
The season will find Frank fighting for his marriage and his presidency as his political opponents circle like vultures. Frank foresees his family in the White House for years to come, with America “one nation, Underwood.” He also voices his contempt for America’s huddled masses, describing U.S. citizens as “little children” with “sticky fingers” and “filthy mouths” who “don’t know what’s best for them.”
Created for television by Beau Willimon, House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Michael Kelly as well as Joel Kinnaman and Neve Campbell. Spacey is also among the executive producing team, which includes David Fincher, Dana Brunetti and Eric Roth.
Netflix has been acquiring and green-lighting cool movies and TV shows left and right of late, but House of Cards remains the crown jewel of its stable. I, for one, can’t wait to see if Frank gets what’s coming to him.
