Comedy star Jim Carrey has lined up his next project, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned, with the biopic MR. TOY. The film is described as Steve Jobs meets A Beautiful Mind by way of Willy Wonka.
Carrey is set to play Marvin Glass, a brilliant, charismatic, self-loathing, paranoid, demanding man – and probably the greatest toy inventor of all time. Glass and his employees at Marvin Glass & Associates created some of the most successful toys and games of the twentieth century including Mr. Machine, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Lite Brite, Ants in the Pants, Operation, and Mouse Trap.
Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner is attached to produce.
Carrey has been seen in this year’s The Bad Batch and True Crimes but more recently has been working behind the scenes in the cable comedy I’m Dying Up Here. The series in the works at Showtime follows the infamous L.A. stand-up comedy scene of the ’70s and delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that inhabit the hilarious but complex business of making an audience laugh. It’s based on William Knoedelseder’s book of the same name.
He is repped by WME.
