The in-development John Wick companion TV series, titled THE CONTINENTAL, has landed at Starz, which was acquired by Lionsgate in 2016.
The series will be set in the John Wick universe, focusing on the inner workings of the exclusive Continental Hotel which serves as a refuge for assassins.
Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, and The Man in the High Castle) will write the series and serve as showrunner.
“This series is truly unlike anything else on TV,” said Starz President & CEO Chris Albrecht in a statement. “The Continental promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”
Keanu Reeves, who starred in the film franchise which is now on its second sequel, will serve as an executive producer on the series and could guest star. Basil Iwanyk, Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad and David Leitch will also serve as EPs.
Stahelski, who co-directed the first John Wick and directed the sequel, will direct the premiere episode.
