UTA and LBI Entertainment are out with a hot spec titled RUIN from writers Ryan and Matt Firpo that has Justin Kurzel (Assassin’s Creed) attached to direct, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.
Multiple studios are bidding on the package, which could find a studio home before the end of the day.
Described as a gritty revenge thriller, Ruin follows a nameless ex-Nazi captain who navigates the ruins of post-WWII Germany determined to atone for his crimes during the war by hunting down the surviving members of his former SS Death Squad.
Talk about a juicy role for a leading man! Heck, Kurzel’s own Assassin’s Creed/Macbeth star Michael Fassbender would be perfect for something like this, though he already helped hunt Nazis in Inglourious Basterds.
The Firpos have written and directed numerous short films on their own, not together, while each also has documentary filmmaking experience. Ryan directed Bet Raise Fold, which chronicles the rise of online poker, while Matt directed the short documentary Refuge, which tells human stories from the European Refugee Crisis. They’re represented by Peter Dodd at UTA and Sam Warren at LBI.
This auction should be one to watch, so stay tuned…
