Launch Pad Alum T.A. Snyder Signs With Echo Lake Entertainment
0Launch Pad alum T.A. Snyder has signed with managers Adam Riback and David Brown at Echo Lake Entertainment. The esteemed management and production company has also partnered with the Launch Pad’s 2017 Feature Competition and come on board as an exclusive partner, looking to discover new literary voices.
Snyder’s script Dead Men was one of the hottest scripts from the 2017 Launch Pad Pilots Competition, and went on to be selected as the competition’s Overall Winner. Pitched as Deadwood meets Seven, the story centers around a local Sheriff who bands together with an elite group of soldiers to track down a notorious group of murderers whose plans for revenge could threaten the stability of the government. As the Tracking Board previously reported, the project was picked up by Endgame Entertainment, with Romark Entertainment also onboard to produce.
“In the week since winning the 2017 Launch Pad Pilot Competition, door after door of opportunity has flung open for me,” said Snyder, who wound up optioning his script to Endgame and signing with Echo Lake.
Growing up in rural southern Illinois, Snyder gravitated to movies as his connection to the larger world. It wasn’t until 1999, while attending college in Chicago, that he first held a camera, which led him to eventually write, edit, and direct. Craving adventure, he spent his 20s shooting a documentary in an Alaskan fishing village, making an experimental feature with friends from the Blue Man Group, and directing music videos for bands. After making the move to Los Angeles in 2014, he ultimately landed work as a segment producer for CBS’s Big Brother.
In 2015, Snyder’s feature script The Volunteer earned him a Top 50 semi-finalist spot in the Nicholl Fellowship screenwriting competition. It wasn’t until a chance encounter with a grizzled old leather-worker who claimed to be a descendant of one of America’s first serial killers that Snyder was inspired to embark on the storytelling journey that would become Dead Men.
Of his pilot script, he said, “Dead Men is an important project for me, both personally and professionally, and I will forever be grateful to the hard-working team at the Tracking Board for championing it so passionately.”
