We may never get as compelling a telling of the Watergate scandal that took down President Richard M. Nixon then Alan Pakula’s 1976 drama All the President’s Men, but filmmaker Peter Landesman (Concussion) is giving it a go with Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House.

His political thriller focuses more on the title character, played by , who became better known under the codename “Deep Throat” when he helped journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncover the Watergate scandal in 1974.

Adapted by Landesman from the book written by the late Mark Felt and John D. O’Connor, the movie co-stars Diane Lane and Maika Monroe as Mrs. Felt and their daughter Joan respectively. The enormous ensemble cast also includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Tony Goldwyn, Ike Barinholtz, Michael C. Hall, Eddie Marsan, Marton Czokas and many more.

The first trailer for the movie premiered at EW.com, but you can watch it below.

The movie will be released by Sony Pictures Classics on Friday, Sept. 29, but first, they’ll be bringing it to some of the fall film festivals including Toronto next month.
