Baby Driver star Lily James is in negotiations to star in Danny Boyle’s untitled comedy for Universal and Working Title. James is the first person to board the project who will play the role of a teacher and requires her to sing.
All that is known about the musically themed comedy is that it is set in the 1960’s or 70’s. Richard Curtis wrote the script and Universal is eyeing a summer shoot.
James has been on a roll ever since landing the lead in Disney’s live-action remake of Cinderella in 2015. Last year she appeared opposite Oscar-winner Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour and starred opposite Ansel Elgort in Edgar Wright’s acclaimed thriller Baby Driver. She will be seen next playing a younger Meryl Streep in Mama Mia! Here We Go Again that opens July 20. James is represented by UTA.
