“Mary Poppins Returns” Delivers Practically Perfect First Look (Things We Love)
0Disney first revealed a look at Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins in the upcoming MARY POPPINS RETURNS a few months ago and are now getting fans excited again with a handful of behind-the-scenes images released in Entertainment Weekly. The Rob Marshall-directed feature is due out Christmas 2018.
Among the images are a trio of concept art pieces whose style make nods to chimney sweep Bert’s chalk drawings from the 1964 film. Who wouldn’t get excited to see the Admiral’s mast peaking out from the top of his home beside the Banks family home.
A pair of photos also showed moments from behind-the-scenes, including the main cast practicing alongside the piano and Rob Marshall at the helm of the production. The project reunites Marshall with star Blunt and Disney, who previously worked together on Into the Woods.
Finally, we see the cast on the set and in action including the new generation of Banks children surrounded by chimney sweeps, Poppins meeting with now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, and the central characters out celebrating and enjoying a musical number late at night.
If the film is as delightful as these images appear, it’s sure to be a hit with fans both new and old!
