Miles Teller Returns From War Only to Battle PTSD in First Trailer for “Thank You for Your Service” (Video)

Just as space movies have become all the rage for Hollywood’s A-list, every major actor these days needs to have their own war movie, whether it’s the Ocean’s trio of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, or guys like Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Wahlberg.

Now it’s time to welcome Miles Teller to the club, as Universal has released the first trailer for , which marks the directorial debut of American Sniper writer Jason Hall.

Based on the non-fiction book of the same name by David Finkel, the film finds Teller playing Iraq War veteran Adam Schumann, who returns home from the front lines of war only to wage another battle against PTSD. Though he’s back in the loving arms of his wife, played by Haley Bennett, he still struggles to readjust to civilian life back home.

The film co-stars Scott Haze, newcomer Beulah Koale, Joe Cole, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Kate Lyn Sheil, Jayson Warner Smith and Amy Schumer, who I wish we’d seen more of in this first trailer.

Universal will release the drama on Oct. 27, and if Teller’s past work in films such as Whiplash and Bleed for This is any indication, he could find himself back in the awards conversation this fall.
