“Nurse Jackie” Alum Merritt Wever Joins Steve Carell in Robert Zemeckis’ Next Movie (Exclusive)

Emmy-winning actress (Nurse Jackie) is set to join Steve Carell in Universal’s , the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.

Based on the acclaimed 2010 documentary Marwencol, the film tells the moving true story of how one broken man (Carell) used his artistic imagination to restore his human spirit.

Insiders tell the Tracking Board that Wever will play the proprietor of a local store where Carell’s character buys all the models and toy figurines he uses to build the world of Marwencol.

In addition to Wever, the film’s female-driven ensemble includes Leslie Mann, Janelle Monae, Diane Kruger, Gwendoline Christie and Baby Driver star Eiza Gonzalez.

Zemeckis is directing from a script he co-wrote with Caroline Thompson. He’s also producing with Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke under their ImageMovers banner, along with Cherylanne Martin.

Marwencol director Jeff Malmberg will serve as executive producer along with Jackie Levine, while Universal executives Maradith Frenkel and Chloe Yellin will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Wever will soon be seen alongside Javier Bardem and Charlize Theron in Sean Penn’s drama The Last Face, as well as in Scott Frank’s upcoming Netflix series Godless. She’s represented by and .
