Look out Bad Moms, because there are, uh, more “bad” moms in town, and to be honest, they look a little more fun.
Oscar-nominated actress Toni Collette, SNL alum Molly Shannon, Katie Aselton (The League) and Bridget Everett (so good in the upcoming indie Patti Cake$) star in FUN MOM DINNER, about four moms who get together for a nice meal without their obnoxious children, only to end up wreaking havoc thanks to weed, booze and karaoke. Though the night begins as a disaster, these seemingly-different women come to realize that they have much more in common than motherhood and men.
Adam Scott, Adam Levine (yes, that one) Rob Huebel and Paul Rust play the men in their lives, while Paul Rudd and David Wain cameo as proprietors of a weed dispensary.
Alethea Jones directed from a script by Julie Rudd, while Naomi Scott, Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks produced the film, which was executive produced by Adam Scott and Paul Rudd.
Fun Mom Dinner premiered at Sundance, and Momentum Pictures will release the comedy in select theaters and on VOD on Aug. 4 — the same late summer corridor that worked for Bad Moms. While this film may not be as financially successful, let’s hope it brings the laughs that the Mila Kunis movie forgot.
