Kal Penn has been tapped as the lead in the comedy pilot PRARIE DOGS. The single-camera project, from writers/executive producers Jackie and Jeff Filgo and ABC Studios, centers on Neil (Penn), an uncool cubicle worker aka “prairie dog” at one of the coolest companies in the world who becomes the victim of identity theft.
Terry O’Quinn, is back on ABC with a lead role in the network’s drama pilot 666 PARK AVENUE. Based on the Alloy book series by Gabriella Pierce, the project centers on a young couple who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. Unwittingly, they begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building. O’Quinn will play Gavin, the building owner.
Toni Trucks will co-star in the drama pilot BABY BIG SHOT. The project, from Kevin Falls, Sony TV and Julia Franz’s Fanfare, is a legal drama centered on Martina, a working-class woman who uses her street smarts to compete with her more polished colleagues at a top New York law firm.
Adam Campell and Amanda Lund have joined the cast of the UNTITLED NICK STOLLER COMEDY PROJECT. The series centers on on Jake, a commitment phobic ad agency exec who, after breaking up with his girlfriend, realizes he has to continue working with her one cubicle away.
Katie Cassidy (Gossip Girl) has been set as the female lead in the new superhero pilot ARROW. The series is a modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow, stars Stephen Amell as the vigilante superhero. Willa Holland, another “Gossip Girl” alum has also joined the series.
Malcolm Barrett has been cast in the single-camera comedy pilot REBOUNDING. The series is an uplifting comedy about a man recovering from the death of his fiancÃ© with the help of the idiots on his pickup basketball team, with Barrett playing one of the team members. Comedian-actor Hayes MacArthur has also been cast in the series.
Nicky Whelan has landed the second female lead in the new multi-camera pilot DADDY’S GIRLS. The series centers on Pen, a responsible, guarded, brilliant but emotionally challenged Harvard Medical School graduate who just returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders to discover that her beloved dentist dad, Robert, has become engaged to Pen’s high school classmate Holly (Whelan) — a 29-year-old bubbly blonde who happens to be the “mean girl” in high school. Cedric Yarbrough has also been cast in the new comedy.
Zach McGowan has been made a series regular for Season 3 of the hit series SHAMELESS.
