The First Rogue One Teaser Trailer is Here

The first teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuted this week and it set the internet on fire with speculation and buzz. Rogue One takes place between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It will tell the story of how the Rebel Alliance stole the secret plans to the first Death Star. This film is considered a heist film and will showcase sides of the Rebellion and the Empire that audiences have never seen before. Felicity Jones stars in the film, along side Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, and Alistair Petrie. Rogue One is written by The Book of Eli’s Gary Whitta and directed by Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16, 2016.

HBO to Air Game of Thrones After Show


When Game of Thrones returns on April 24, HBO will follow up every episode with a brand new after show. Think of The Talking Dead, but for Game of Thrones. The cleverly named After the Thrones will be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan, the current hosts of the Watch the Thrones podcast. This after show is a must-watch for fans of Game of Thrones — anyone eager to understand the connections to the books, any unusual Thrones history, character deaths, and more.

After the Thrones kicks off on April 24, 2016.

New Independence Day 2 Trailer Teases “Her”

Independence Day: Resurgence debuted its first trailer on Superbowl Sunday, and reintroduced the world to the global threat of alien invasion. The first trailer saw the return of Independence Day actors Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, and new ID42 cast members Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe. This new trailer shows the return of another ID4 actor, Brent Spiner, who played Doctor Okun. While many people believed that Doctor Okun had perished, it turns out he’s alive and knows something about the new invasion. The trailer also teases the return of the mothership, which this time will be much bigger than before.

Independence Day: Resurgence opens in theaters on June 24, 2016.

First BFG Trailer Introduces “Giant Land”

The first official trailer for Steven Spielberg’s The BFG debuted this week. It revealed for the first time the face of the “Big Friendly Giant,” who is portrayed by Bridge of Spies’ Mark Rylance. In the trailer young Sophie, played by Ruby Barnhill, is captured from an orphanage and taken to the mystical realm of Giant Land. While Sophie’s first reaction to the BFG is to be afraid, she soon learns to trust him. Spielberg’s BFG is based on Roald Dahl’s 1962 book, and is written by Melissa Mathison.

The BFG hits into theaters on July 1, 2016.

Doctor Who’s Class Completes Casting for Season One

Doctor Who’s new spinoff series Class has found its student body and its new teacher. Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah will be Class’ main student adventurers. They will be overseen by their teacher, actress Katherine Kelly. Together this class will prepare for the dangerous mysteries at Coal Hill School. “Incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected. With all the action, heart and adrenaline of the best YA fiction (Buffy, Hunger Games), this is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you’ve never seen it before.”

Doctor Who Class will hit BBC America sometime this Fall 2016.

Charlize Theron Joins Fast 8


The cast of the next installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise continues to grow, this time by adding actress Charlize Theron. Theron joins Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Jason Statham in the film, which will continue the storyline of Furious 7. While Statham was the main villain in Furious 7, Theron is set to play the villain in Fast 8. Theron joins Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black, and Kurt Russell, who are all set to reprise their roles from the previous Fast and Furious movies.

Fast 8 races into theaters on April 14, 2017.

Wonder Woman Moves Up Release Date


When Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice debuted a few weeks ago, all anyone could talk about was Wonder Woman. Her standalone film is by far the most anticipated Warner Bros./DC Comics film to be released in the next few years. In a turn of good news, Warner Bros. announced this week that Wonder Woman would be released two weeks earlier than originally planned. Instead of opening in theaters on June 23, Wonder Woman will now be hitting theaters on June 2. Gal Gadot will star as Diana Prince, and she will be joined by Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen.

Wonder Woman will lasso theaters on June 2, 2017.

Dave Bautista Joins Blade Runner Sequel


Over the weekend actor Dave Bautista posted this picture on Twitter. It immediately spawned speculation on whether Bautista would be joining the new Blade Runner sequel. Bautista confirmed this week that he was indeed joining the yet-to-be-titled Blade Runner sequel as an important character. Bautista joins previously confirmed Harrison Ford and Robin Wright. No word yet if he will be playing a human character or a replicant.

Blade Runner 2 is expected to open in theaters on January 12, 2018.
