Batman v. Superman Deleted Scene Reveals New Threat

Batman v. Superman has only been in theaters for a week, and Warner Bros. is already releasing deleted scenes from the film. The video above shows Lex Luthor’s arrest, something not seen in the film. The authorities find Lex inside the crashed Kryptonian ship communing with a digital alien. The alien is holding three boxes — Mother Boxes — which have a deep history in the comics. While the alien was not directly modeled after any DC Comics villain in particular that we know, it could be Darkseid, a villain who has been mentioned by the Batman v. Superman creative team before. Could this deleted scene be teeing up the franchise’s next great monster to defeat? And what did it tell Lex Luthor? Is that why Lex looked psychotic at the end of the film? Perhaps he was shown a plan even more deadly and dangerous than Doomsday.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently in theaters.

A Face Will Be Added to the Hall in Game of Thrones Season 6

Game of Thrones finally returns to our screens later this month, and HBO is starting to air trailers that show the fate and possible destinies of the beloved (and not so beloved) characters of George R. R. Martin’s world. Arya appears to be blind and serving the Many Faced God at the House of Black and White. Cersei and Jaime seem to have made amends and are preparing for war in King’s Landing. Tyrion holds court with Daenerys’ people in her absence, and Bran stands face to face with the King of the White Walkers. Considering the numerous cliffhangers that audiences were left with at the end of season five, season six looks like it’s going take each character (who is still alive) on their greatest adventures and terrors yet.

Game of Thrones season six premieres on April 24, 2016.

It’s Natasha vs. Clint in New Captain America: Civil War Promo

It’s no secret that Captain America: Civil War will ask each Avenger to take a side in the upcoming battle between Captain America and Iron Man. Vision will have to fight Scarlet Witch. Ant-Man will have to fight Iron Patriot. Bucky will have to fight Black Panther. Even Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye will have to go up against his long time friend and partner Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow. While their friendship has seen rockier days (Hawkeye’s brainwashing in The Avengers) it would appear, based on this new promo, that they can still be friends, even if they are on opposite sides of the Superhero Registration Act. What’s great about this trailer is that it reminds audiences that no matter how bleak the battle may be in this film, it will still be as funny and as light-hearted as every other Marvel film. Now that’s an impressive feat, considering the stakes.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.

Alice Escapes a Mental Institution in New Alice Through the Looking Glass Trailer

Alice in Wonderland is a tale that has been told many times. Through film adaptations, animated series, and even television shows, Alice has been to Wonderland and back many times. What sets this sequel apart from other adaptations, is that Alice is not going up against the Red Queen or the Jabberwocky, but against time itself, or rather Time himself. Time, as played by Sacha Baron Cohen, threatens to destroy Underland, the Mad Hatter, and all that Alice fought to protect in her first film. Now she must stop Time, and restore order to the typically disorderly world of Underland.

Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.

Alliances are Forged in New International Warcraft Trailer

Warcraft hits theaters later this summer, and already it’s set to be one of the biggest video game adaptations in movie history. The film, which is based on the online gaming platform World of Warcraft will tell the story of the first battle between the Orcs and the citizens of Azeroth. In the trailer above, the leaders of each group must form an alliance, if both people groups are to survive. The film appears to have deep themes of loyalty, friendship, race, and even magic. Warcraft is a co-production of Blizzard and Legendary Entertainment.

Warcraft swings into theaters on June 10, 2016.

Second Trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie

Just last week the first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie landed. Now there is a second trailer, and it’s even funnier than the first. Will Arnet voices the LEGO Batman, who according to this trailer, leads a solitary life. Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne, spends his nights fighting crime in Gotham City. When he gets home, he puts on his robe, stands by the fireplace, and talks to the pictures of his parents on the wall. Thomas and Martha Wayne, it’s as if they are at the heart of every Batman film, even ones made out of LEGOs. The trailer then introduces Alfred, as voiced by Ralph Fiennes, who hilariously recounts all the times in the last 50 years that Bruce has brooded around Wayne Manor without ever talking about his feelings. Despite the darker tone of any Batman film, this one is sure to be the funniest, and possibly the most endearing.

The LEGO Batman Movie opens in theaters on February 10, 2017.

Robin Wright Joins Blade Runner Sequel

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is coming back to theaters in 2018, this time as a sequel to the 1982 sci-fi hit. Both Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling have already signed onto the film, and news broke this week that The Princess Bride and House of Cards star, Robin Wright, will also be starring in the film. While her role remains undisclosed, it’s possible she could be playing a Replicant — perhaps an updated version of the Sean Young character from the first Blade Runner film. Principal photography is set to begin this summer, which Wright will likely join after she wraps her current gig on Warner Bros. Wonder Woman.

Blade Runner 2 hits theaters on January 12, 2018.

The Flash’s Grant Gustin Signs on for Krystal

Grant Gustin, who currently stars as Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash on the CW’s hit series The Flash, joined William H. Macy’s independent film Krystal this week. Krystal may not be a sci-fi film, nor a picture that fits into any version of the pop culture genre, but it’s set to co-star Gustin, who is currently a staple in superhero television. Krystal will center on a young man who joins AA because he falls in love with a stripper. Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, The LEGO Batman Movie) will play Krystal and will be joined by Felicity Huffman, Nick Robinson, Kathy Bates, John Leguizamo and Grant Gustin. Kystal begins production in Atlanta next month, which mean Gustin will likely wrap season two of The Flash in Vancouver and then head directly to Atlanta.

No release date has been set for Krystal.
