〉The book, which is being pitched as Narcos meets The Big Short, is set to be the first in an ongoing series.
With 2016 having already become the most high-profile year of manuscript and book proposal sales in Hollywood (See the bidding wars for David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon, or TJ English’s The Corporation) and networks making it widely known there is a shortage of new dramas on the market, it’s no wonder one of the hottest projects in town right now is the upcoming thriller THE EXTRADITIONIST.
The project, which is being shopped simultaneously to networks and publishers, has the town abuzz as names such as Tom Hardy, Scott Rudin, Tim Kring, David Ellison, and Steven Spielberg are already said to be in the mix. Out from Paradigm (who set up the previously mentioned The Corporation), Inkwell Management (who represent authors such as Wayward Pines creator Blake Crouch) and with Romark Entertainment onboard to produce (who recently teamed with Silver Pictures to pick up the feature spec Rift), the project is said to be loosely based on author Todd Merer’s life as an off-the-books ‘extraditionist’ who tracked down, infiltrated, and negotiated the extraditions of some of the world’s biggest, and most dangerous criminals in the world. Some of the author’s real life takedowns include Cali Cartel boss Gilberto Rodriguez, who at one point supplied 85% of the world’s cocaine, and also was the man who financed the hunt and murder of Pablo Escobar, as well as Bogota Cartel leader Ericson Vargas Cardona, who was partners with the infamous El Chapo.
