After delays that led to creator Dan Harmon to launch into an explanation rant on Twitter, we finally have a trailer and premiere date for season three of Adult Swim’s RICK AND MORTY. The animated series from Harmon and Justin Roiland is set to return on Sunday, July 30 at 11:30pm.
“The reason S3 took long is because it took long to write, because it was S3 of a show that we were scared to make worse than S2 or S1,” wrote Harmon via Twitter. Harmon is a notorious perfectionist with his writing which, of course, has led to creative dust-ups on his other TV credits such as Community and Sarah Silverman Program. It was these previous instances that fueled speculation that there was trouble behind-the-scenes of the Adult Swim series.
The news was announced during a livestream hosted by Brandon Johnson, who voices Mr. Goldford.
“Welcome to the darkest year of adventure” proclaims the tagline for the season, which means there’s a lot to look forward to from our dynamic duo.
