Robert De Niro Circles “The War With Grandpa” At Dimension

is in talks to topline Dimension Films’ THE WAR WITH GRANDPA helmed by SpongeBob SquarePants Movie director Tim Hill.

Matt Ember and Tom Astle have been tapped to adapt the movie from Robert Kimmel Smith’s best-selling novel. Lisa Addario and Joey Syracuse wrote the a previous draft. The story centers on a young man and how he is forced to give up his beloved bedroom after his grandfather moves in after the death of his wife. Determined to keep his bedroom, the young man plays a series of pranks on his grandfather to drive him out.

Phillip Glasser, Marvin Peart, and Rose Morris Peart are set to produce while Jane Rosenthal and Barry Welsh will serve as executive producers.

De Niro is currently attached to reunite with Martin Scorsese for The Irishman which was a big sell at Cannes earlier this year for $50 million. He starred in Hands of Stone with Ellen Barkin which bowed at Cannes and can be seen next in The Comedian opposite Leslie Mann and Danny DeVito.
