Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson Fire Off Guns, F-Bombs in “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” Trailer (NSFW Video)

“Everyone’s out to get them… if they don’t kill each other first.”

Sound familiar? Well that’s the tagline for THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD, a new action-comedy starring and that I’ve seen done better before, which is probably why I only sat through half the film when it debuted at CinemaCon. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy what I saw, I just felt like I could catch the rest on VOD down the line. But action aficionados may disagree.

Coming off the staggering success of Deadpool, Reynolds seems to take a bit of a step backwards here, but hey, he can’t play the Merc With a Mouth in every movie. And no, that’s not a challenge!

In The Hitman’s Bodyguard, he plays a skilled protection agent who is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy — a notorious hitman played by Jackson in a far cry from his turn as hitman Jules in Pulp Fiction.

During their 24-hour adventure from England to the Hague, the duo encounter high-speed chases on land and sea as they try to take down a merciless Eastern European dictator played by Gary Oldman. Yes, there are a lot of good actors in this movie, including Salma Hayek as Jackson’s ex, but I’m not sure it makes much of a difference.

Patrick Hughes directed the slam-bang movie, which co-stars Elodie Yung, Joaquim De Almeida, Kirsty Mitchell and Richard E. Grant.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard blasts into theaters on August 18, just in time for the dog days of summer. At least this film shares one thing in common with Deadpool — a sense of humor, as evidenced by the trailer’s use of Whitney Houston’s theme song from The Bodyguard. Enjoy!
