Just last week, Paramount Pictures moved back its , but that was likely to give director Tim Miller (Deadpool) more time to actually shoot the movie and do the extensive post-production.

That doesn’t mean the project has stalled, and from Scream Queens and Rock of Ages is now in negotiations for a key role.

Both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, two of the franchise staples, will return, joined by Mackenzie Davis from The Martian and Blade Runner 2049. Davis is playing a soldier-assassin from the future, although the plot and the other actor’s roles are being kept secret, including Boneta’s role, although he is playing a human.

The film is being produced by Paramount and Skydance, who also made the less-than-great Terminator: Genisys a few years back, but James Cameron is back to the franchise for the first time in 27 years, producing the movie.

Just last week, the movie’s release date was pushed back a summer release of July 26, 2019 to Nov. 22, 2019.

Born in Mexico, Boneta’s first feature film was the musical Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise, and he recently appeared in the Netflix sci-fi thriller The Titan with Sam Worthington, another Terminator vet. Boneta is also the playing the lead in Netflix’s Spanish language biopic Luis Miguel, playing the famous Latin American singer, which debuts April 23.

Boneta is repped by , and Hansen Jecobson, and his casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
