0The Launch Pad Pilots Competition Presents… | |
Title: | SEPARATE BUT MARRIED |
Logline: | A young couple takes the advice of their unorthodox marriage counselor to live separately while navigating the new rules of their marriage. |
Pitch: | YOU’RE THE WORST meets THE BREAK-UP |
Writer: | Brian Guest |
Genre: | Comedy | Romance |
Why to Read: | This script has a fun premise that is almost an anti-rom-com and has a ton of potential. The writing delivers some genuinely funny one-liners, and the dialogue, as a whole, is solidly in the late-20s millennial tone. The best part about the story is that it could supply a writer’s room with an endless supply of situational jokes for a series. The writer has done a great job of setting up why these people can’t separate, but also why they need to, in a believable and relatable way. This is the sort of conflict that creates natural drama and humor in equal measure. |
