Sony has hired in-demand scribes and to rewrite its comic book movie , which pairs Silver Sable with Black Cat, the Tracking Board has confirmed.

Gina Prince-Bythewood is set to direct the film, which is being produced by Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal. Prince-Bythewood wrote the previous draft, while Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok) and Lisa Joy (Westworld) contributed earlier drafts.

While Silver Sable and Black Cat are characters within the Spider-Man universe that is controlled by Sony, the webslinger himself isn’t expected to appear in the superhero film. Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy, is an acrobatic cat burglar, while Silver Sable is a mercenary who hunts war criminals.

Sony will release Silver & Black on Feb. 8, 2019, which means production will have to begin this summer. The studio deserves credit for making it a point to seek out top-notch female talent for this film, something that must’ve slipped 20th Century Fox’s mind when it hired Tim Miller and Brian Michael Bendis to develop the Kitty Pryde movie 143. Representation matters, folks!

In addition to working on the upcoming Tom Holland-Daisy Ridley film Chaos Walking, Beer has been part of several high-profile writers rooms, including Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek (The Revenant‘s Mark L. Smith ultimately won the job), Hasbro’s Transformers, Paramount’s Ology and Legendary’s Godzilla/Kong room. Meanwhile, Robertson-Dworet wrote Captain Marvel for Marvel, as well as the Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander. Both are represented by , while Robertson-Dworet is also repped by . The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.
