Miles Teller is in negotiations to star opposite Shailene Woodley in STX Entertainment’s survival thriller ADRIFT, which would mark their fifth film together following The Spectacular Now and the Divergent trilogy, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
Though I’ll confess to never having seen Divergent or either of its sequels, I loved The Spectacular Now and thought Teller and Woodley had wonderful chemistry together in that film. The two seem to share a special bond on the big screen, having come up in Hollywood around the same time.
Baltasar Kormakur (Everest) is directing Adrift, which is based on a true story about a couple who set sail for Tahiti when a massive storm ruined their boat, leaving them stranded at sea roughly 1,500 miles from Hawaii.
Aaron and Jordan Kandell wrote the script and are producing the movie, which is expected to go before cameras this summer.
Teller is poised for a big year between Lionsgate’s firefighting drama Granite Mountain and Universal’s PTSD drama Thank You for Your Service. He’s sneaking Adrift into his busy schedule before he segues to Nicolas Winding Refn’s assassin series Too Old to Die Young, which is in development at Amazon.
