Sundance: Magnolia Pictures Picks Up Scandinavian Thriller “The Guilty”

Magnolia Pictures has picked up the North American rights to Gustav Möller’s thriller , which screened in the World Dramatic Competition section of the Sundance Film Fsetival.

Produced by Lina Flint, Möller’s film is a presentation of Nordisk Film Spring and New Danish Screen. Written by Möller and Emil Nygaard Albertsen, it stars Jacob Cedergren, Jessica Dinnage, Johan Olsen, Omar Shargawi and Katinka Evers-Jahnsen.

It deals with an former policeman now working as an alarm dispatcher who answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. After she’s disconnected, it sends him on a desperate search for the woman that leads to a much larger crime.

The deal was negotiated by John Von Thaden, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions at Magnolia Pictures and Susan Wendt, Director of International Sales & Marketing at TrustNordisk on behalf of the filmmakers.
