Last night was the first season finale for “Married” and while it wasn’t all tied up in a nice little bow, it did get pretty close.
Halloween has come to Married, and instead of spooky fun, the show tackled some real-life horror: adult responsibilities and the consequences of drug use. Boooo!
Have the Bowman’s learned to appreciate their lives and stop living in the past? Of course not, but they have learned to be more subtle about shoplifting on Date Night.
To rent or to own, that is the question.
Russ and Lina Bowman may never change, but their show is starting to. Though Married still focuses on the same basic issues, this episode is just different enough to show that this isn’t a one note sitcom. It’s more like one chord.
This week opened with Russ and Lina having the same old argument about their sex life, or lack thereof. Are they finally seeing a counselor? Nope, they’re in their daughter Maya’s parent/teacher conference.
This week’s episode saw more bumbling sad sack adventures of a modern married couple. In a nutshell, everyone is miserable. But the redeeming quality of this show is that somehow, despite all of that, its characters still care about each other.
FX’s “Married” has an episode about a vasectomy with surprisingly little talk about said operation.
FX’s new slow burn comedy “Married” continues to toe the line between genuine and needless, and between low key and flatlined.
