Mr. Robot reveals what phase two of Elliot and The Dark Army’s plans are, and even though Elliot is the one who came up with idea for it, he may be unable to stop what he already started.
The penultimate episode of Mr. Robot channels David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, and Back to the Future leaving us to wonder what’s real and what’s imaginary in this lucid dream of an episode.
Elliot may not be the only person who’s constructed an elaborate fantasy life on Mr. Robot, and Dom figures out how to track down Cisco and Darlene, but can she get to them before The Dark Army?
There are some strange things happening to Elliot’s relationship with Mr. Robot in this week’s episode that take even his alter ego by surprise. With Mobley and Trenton having vanished, Darlene and Elliot are the only members of fsociety left to finish their mission. What is phase 2, and what does The Dark Army have planned?
This might be the first episode of Mr. Robot where Elliot is nowhere to be found in the entire hour. Instead, the focus is on Darlene and fsociety as things around them begin to fall apart. Is she up to the task to lead the group, or are things so far out of her control that it’s too late?
Mr. Robot makes a grand revelation as to what’s actually going on with Elliot, while Angela and fsociety continue to work from inside of E-Corp to take them down once and for all. If E-Corp does go down will it change anything, or will Zhang be there to pick up the pieces and profit off of them?
Mr. Robot gives us a glimpse into what it would be like if it were a 90’s sitcom, while also exploring the aftermath of the attack on the FBI in China, and Elliot’s beat down by Ray’s thugs. Zhang seems to be the puppet master pulling all of the strings at this point, but what is he up to?
A lot of things come to a head for several of the characters in Mr. Robot tonight, setting up more intense confrontations to come in the future. With Elliot back in front of a computer, and Mr. Robot an accepted part of his life, will Elliot be able to finish off E-Corp once and for all, while still protecting his friends and family?
One of the interesting things they’ve been doing this season on Mr. Robot is to showing us flashbacks of the fsociety characters before the group came to power. We are being fed bits and pieces, small kernels of how it all began, in order to help us understand how these characters got themselves into this situation.
At times, Mr. Robot leaves you scratching your head, wondering if what you’re seeing is real or all just a figment of Elliot’s imagination. It’s this thin line between fact and fiction which makes watching the show so rewarding.
Mr. Robot is back in a big way with a double episode premiere that shows us the aftermath of fsociety’s big hack. After last season’s shocking revelation, things have changed drastically for everyone involved.
