Season 1, Episode 8 – Quarry ends with all of the elements you need to leave us still wanting for more in a second season. Not sure whether Cinemax will bring it back, but Mac’s storyline needs to be fleshed out more. This Vietnam vet fought on behalf of a lie, and he’s choosing to do it again for another one.
Season 1, Episode 7 – Quarry challenges us to see the good in bad behavior. The Broker (Peter Mullan) is establishing himself as a Savior of sorts. Marcus (Joshua J. Williams) buys his mother flowers with money that doesn’t belong to him. And Buddy (Damon Herriman) wants to be The Broker’s gun supplier.
Season 1, Episode 6 – Quarry continues its quest for justice in the beating of a 13 year old by a racist White man. This isn’t justice by the courts. This is justice executed by a contract killer.
Season 1, Episode 5 – Quarry meets us in the thick of racial assault during school desegregation. It overshadows what’s going on with Mac, and it’s necessary to understand the backdrop of the 70s.
Season 1, Episode 4 – With Suggs (Kurt Yaeger), our one-legged mischief, on the hunt for Joni, she and Mac hold up in a sketchy motel on what appears to be the outskirts of town in Friday night’s episode of Quarry.
Season 1, Episode 3 – Quarry gets a bit more interesting in Friday night’s episode. Quarry finally wakes up from heartbreak, but it takes the kidnapping of his wife to do so.
Season 1, Episode 2 – Dejection seems to be Mac’s middle name in this second episode of Quarry. No one seems to want him around, which propels him into contract killing.
