Season 1, Episodes 5-6 – StartUp finds itself pulled in two very different directions. On the one hand, as the show has gone on, it’s really ratcheted up the thrills, and it’s done that with a deft command of structure, pacing, and stakes. On the other hand, though these new hurdles are pretty fun to navigate as a fewer, they point to a more fundamental issue with the show: its reliance on crime show trappings.
