FOX is not known for gritty, complicated shows like this, but kudos to them for allowing the creative team behind The Exorcist to flourish. The second episode expands on the universe the show takes place in, while at the same time illuminating the backgrounds of our two lead characters, Father Tomas and Father Marcus.

THE EXORCIST Review: “Chapter One: And Let My Cry Come Unto Thee”

Exorcist ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 1 – The Exorcist does a wonderful job in its pilot episode of differentiating itself from the 1973 William Friedkin film. It’s not a continuation of the characters in the franchise, but plays in the same universe the films events took place in and it may be one of the grittiest shows Fox has ever attempted.
