I, Tonya and Gifted star McKenna Grace has been cast opposite Rob Lowe in a reimaging of a classic horror thriller. Meanwhile, Saturday Night Live alumna Sasheer Zamata lands a lead role in an upcoming NBC comedy pilot.

Agents of Shield actress Felisha Terrell and Girls Trip star Regina Hall also land recurring roles.

With a complete disregard to most of what was built in the pilot, The Orville struggles to find any footing going forward. Much of it relied on tropes, confusing references, and at times, a complete lack of comedy. It’s impossible to figure out who this show is for.

Season 1, Episode 1 – The problem with The Orville is that you’re left with nothing new. Most of what we’ve seen has already been on Star Trek and the jokes don’t lampoon it hard enough. Right now The Orville has no purpose, no mission in deep space and that’s a problem. The first person who can tell me the difference between Kirk and The Orville‘s Ed, I will give them a dollar.

MacFarlane wanted to portray an optimistic future rather than a dystopian one, he said onstage during the show’s panel at the TCA summer press tour Tuesday.

Charlize Theron will guest star on an episode of Seth MacFarlane’s new Fox comedy The Orville. The two previously worked together on MacFarlane’s A Million Ways o Die in the West.

In the wake of Fox’s mass cancellation of shows like Scream Queens, Making History, and Son of Zorn, the network has introduced a new batch of shows to take their place…and hopefully they’ll stick around for a while. Fox recently released trailers to give us peek at what to expect from their rookie shows.
